what we do

Since its inception in 1954, Young Life of Canada has witnessed staff and volunteers stepping out of their adult “comfort zone” to engage with teenagers on “their turf”. Whether it's cheering in the stands at a hockey game, offering encouragement in school activities, or simply hanging out at the local coffee shop or skate park, Young Life leaders are dedicated to meeting teenagers where they are. The heart of Young Life communities lies in fostering authentic, mentoring relationships between leaders and young individuals, providing a safe space where teens feel heard and where deep conversations about life and faith can take place.

 our history

Young Life began its journey in New Westminster, BC, in the year 1954, embarking on years of camping adventures at YL USA's enchanting retreat known as The Malibu Club. As the organization expanded its reach in the western regions, it also forged a path in the Toronto area. Fast forward to 2004, a significant milestone was achieved with the opening of our very own Canadian getaway, RockRidge Canyon, nestled near Princeton, BC. Presently, our commitment to youth extends across British Columbia, Alberta, and Ontario, with exciting plans to introduce our impactful programs in another province in the near future.

our vision

At Young Life, we strive to create a welcoming environment for teenagers, where they are not only valued and respected but fully engaged within the context of their individual lives. With a rich history of over 60 years of caring for young people in Canada, we are thrilled by the growing number of communities seeking our assistance. This expansion allows us the opportunity to connect with and support more teens than ever before. Amidst our growth, our core mission stays constant: to provide unwavering care and support for Canadian teenagers, ultimately earning the privilege to share the immense love of God with them.

our values

In all of our Young Life communities, we purposefully strive to engage teenagers through cultivating long-term, meaningful relationships that foster a sense of trust, growth, and mentorship. Understanding the individuality of each teen, we have carefully curated a diverse array of programs designed to deepen these connections, whether through personalized one-on-one interactions or engaging group activities. These initiatives not only strengthen the bonds within our community but also offer transformative and enriching experiences that shape the lives of the youth we serve. We firmly believe that the presence of even a single positive role model can profoundly impact a teenager's perspective, influencing their choices and aspirations towards a brighter future.
